Published Thu, 06 Mar 2025 09:25:36 GMT

If someone were to ask Kirill Kaprizov, he would probably say he could play on Thursday night against the Pittsburgh Penguins. He certainly looked like he could on Wednesday morning when he took the ice for a Wild practice at TRIA Rink in downtown St. Paul. That marked the first time that Kaprizov has practiced with the Wild since suffering a lower-body injury in a March 8 win over the Winnipeg Jets. Asked about it, coach Dean Evason responded, “He’s an elite athlete and it doesn’t look like it’s going take him long.”The next step for Kaprizov in the recovery process is getting cleared for contact. Technically, he still hasn’t been, though he notably got himself into a few board battles during his first time back at practice.“He was begging to play on the penalty kill,” Evason said. “He’s excited obviously to be out with the guys. Inside the battle over who gets to build the grid of the future

The U.S. Department of Energy issued a draft report in February that found a “pressing need” for new electric transmission infrastructure across the country to improve reliability, connect a rapidly growing number of solar, wind and battery storage projects, supply increasing electric demand and alleviate scattered pockets of consistently high prices across the country. To meet the future envisioned by the federal infrastructure act and the Inflation Reduction Act, which both contain major provisions to boost clean energy, the country needs to increase its current transmission system by an eye-popping 57% by 2035, the report says. Princeton University’s Net-Zero America study estimates expanding transmission capacity by 60% by 2030 will cost $330 billion and tripling it by 2050 will cost $2.2 trillion. But in some states, bills that have been pushed by utilities to give them exclusive or preferential treatment for building regional transmission lines, called “right...
