AUSTIN (KXAN) — On a day when many highly-ranked teams are struggling against unranked opponents, No. 4 Texas is hoping to avoid all of that drama as they take on the Wyoming Cowboys at home.Coming off a mammoth win over Alabama last week on the road, the Longhorns won't have an easy time with the Mountain West Conference squad. In the first week of the season, the Cowboys upset Texas Tech 35-33 in overtime and then followed it up with a 31-17 win over FCS Portland State last week. Quarterback Andrew Peasley does it all for Wyoming, throwing for two scores and rushing for another against the Red Raiders. Whittington’s attitude, consistent play help glue the Texas Longhorns offense together Texas will be without freshman running back CJ Baxter and sophomore linebacker Morice Blackwell Jr. Baxter has a foot injury and Blackwell is coming back from a knee sprain. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian said earlier in the week both players would be game-time decisions in regard to their ava...

Never mind the explosive pass game. Vikings need the run game to improve.

Published Mon, 24 Feb 2025 18:02:52 GMT

A common refrain from Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell this offseason was efficiency in the run game.As confident as he was that the Vikings would be able to air it out, with star receiver Justin Jefferson capable of cooking anybody that lines up across from him, O’Connell also understood the importance of keeping opposing teams honest on the ground. That’s why the lack of the success in the run game has been somewhat jarring as the Vikings have fallen to 0-2 with losses to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Philadelphia Eagles.Shockingly, the Vikings have amassed only 69 yards on the ground so far this season.“We’ve got to go back to work and find ways to run the football,” O’Connell said this week after the Vikings ran the ball less than 10 times in a 34-28 loss to the Eagles. “Because it’s not a good formula to have to play like that.”The goal for the Vikings heading into next Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Charg...
