From his Brooklyn prison cell, Palo Alto’s disgraced cryptocurrency mogul, Sam Bankman-Fried, has described a harrowing existence of surviving on bread, water and peanut butter and denied adequate internet access to prepare for his trial in October. But the entrepreneur’s spectacular rise and fall has made for an amazing story, and Berkeley author Michael Lewis and other figures in the entertainment industry are finding ways to cash in, according to a report in The Ankler.“The Blind Side” author has scored a massive payday for “Going Infinite: The Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon,” his upcoming book about the schlubby-chic son of Stanford Law school professors. The finish should be thrilling, if not pretty, and it’s precisely what Major League Baseball signed up for when it expanded the postseason to six teams per league before last season.Engaged fanbases. Heated races. Mediocre play. The San Francisco Giants are a flawed baseball team. That much has been on display for the better part of three months, now, and was only made clearer as they went 1-6 on their past road trip to drop them all the way back to .500.But the good news, Giants fans, is that so are Diamondbacks. (KRON) -- A man who is accused of preying on half a dozen women along walking trails in Millbrae and San Bruno will stand trial, a San Mateo County judge ruled this week. Jaime Mogollan, 40, of San Bruno, remains behind bars in lieu of $300,000 bail. A preliminary hearing for Mogollan concluded on Wednesday after prosecutors presented evidence of sexual assaults that allegedly occurred this summer. During one incident in August, a 29-year-old Millbrae woman was wearing headphones and walking along Spur Trail. Surveillance cameras positioned at the trail's entrance showed Mogollan following the woman for three blocks, prosecutors said. Mogollan "came up behind her, pulled her pants down ... and grabbed her buttocks. He then reached between her legs," prosecutors wrote. The victim struggled to get away and fell to the ground. The assailant fled from the area on a mountain bicycle. A few days later, a 38-year-old woman was targeted on Poplar Avenue, investigators said. Gavin Newsom’s office. On Thursday, the California Senate gave final approval to a bill legalizing certain psychedelics for people who are 21 or older. If Newsom signs the bill, it will go into effect in 2025 and make it legal to possess or grow plant-based psychedelics, including psychedelic mushrooms.Newsom has not said where he stands on the bill, but he has mostly been a critic against the war on drugs, having been a leading voice to legalize cannabis in California and reduce nonviolent offenses like drug crimes to misdemeanors rather than felonies.
