MILWAUKEE (AP) — Scoring isn’t a problem for the Milwaukee Brewers anymore.William Contreras homered and doubled, Sal Frelick drove in three runs and the Milwaukee Brewers capitalized on San Diego’s control problems to beat the Padres 10-6 on Sunday for their eighth consecutive victory. The Brewers have scored at least five runs in each game during this win streak and had at least six runs in all but one of them. They had scored as many as five runs just 53 times in their first 122 games.“We just have good at bats,” said Mark Canha, who had two hits during the Brewers’ seven-run rally in the sixth inning. “We’re doing a little bit of everything. We’re walking. We’re hitting for power. We’re just getting on base and also cashing in runs with runners in scoring position. We’re just kind of ‘offense-ing.’ “Milwaukee’s seven-run sixth inning matched its most productive inning this season and helped the Brewers erase an early 4-1 defi...Police searching for suspect after 3 injured in Denver shooting

By RUSS BYNUM and AARON MORRISON (Associated Press)JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Hundreds of people gathered Sunday at prayer vigils and in church, in frustration and exhaustion, to mourn yet another racist attack in America: this one the killing of three Black people in Florida at the hands of a white, 21-year-old man who authorities say left behind white supremacist ramblings that read like “the diary of a madman.”Following services earlier in the day, about 200 people showed up at a Sunday evening vigil a block from the Dollar General store in Jacksonville where officials said Ryan Palmeter opened fire Saturday using guns he bought legally despite a past involuntary commitment for a mental health exam.Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis — who is running for the GOP nomination for president, who has loosened gun laws in Florida and who has antagonized civil rights leaders by deriding “wokeness ” — was loudly booed as he addressed the vigil. Former President Donald J. Trump has been arrested four times since he left office and declined to participate in his party’s first debate, but Republican voters seem to know who they want, and it’s Trump, according to another round of polls. After skipping the party debate Wednesday evening and despite his arrest by authorities in Georgia on Thursday, recent polling and fundraising indicate that Trump continues to maintain his grip on the GOP.According to Trump’s campaign, on the Friday following his surrender to authorities in Fulton County the 45th president had his best fundraising day of the 2024 campaign. His jail mugshot, plastered on campaign memorabilia and shared across the one-term chief executive’s social media accounts, is apparently quite appealing to conservative donors.“Close to $20 [million] raised in the last 3 weeks, coinciding with indictment in DC and the Atlanta mugshot,” Trump 2024 campaign spokesman Steven Cheung claimed Saturday via X, the social media ...Police investigate SDSU sexual assault report

Unifor, Canada’s largest private-sector union, says its members at Ford Motor Company, General Motors and Stellantis all voted between 98 and 99 per cent in favour of the strike mandate. The vote took place over the weekend amid a pause in bargaining talks. The current batch of collective agreements, which cover 18,000 workers at the “Detroit Three” automakers, are set to expire before midnight on Sept. 18.The results mirror a strike mandate handed down by members of the U.S.-based United Auto Workers union on Friday, who are negotiating with the trio of automakers at the same time.Unifor National President Lana Payne issued a release saying the union’s bargaining teams are set to resume talks with support from members across the auto sector and a...Highland Park man dies, ID'd after crashing bike in northern suburbs

AUSTIN (KXAN) — While we've talked about ENSO (El Niño Southern Oscillation) at length over the past year, there's another player in our weather that we're watching this year...PDO.PDO stands for Pacific Decadal Oscillation and it can influence the amount of precipitation we get in Central Texas.Pacific Decadal OscillationThe Pacific Decadal Oscillation is quantified by a number that represents three things:The strength of the Aleutian Low;Kuroshiro Current: Ocean current that changes over the course of decades; andThe reemergence of pre-summer water temperature anomalies.Pacific Ocean sea surface temperature anomalies (Blue is colder than normal)Why do we care?As we've told you there's a relationship between ENSO and rain here in Central Texas. When ENSO is positive (El Niño phase) we get more rain. Well, there's a rain relationship with PDO too. The more positive PDO is, the wetter our weather is. The more negative PDO is, the less rain we see.PDO/ENSO and Precipitation (NOAA/Clim...Latest news
