VICTORIA — British Columbia Premier David Eby says he’s received a briefing from Canada’s spy agency about the “assassination” of Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar and he’s “deeply disturbed” by what he was told.He says he’s calling on the federal government to share all information related to ongoing foreign interference and “transnational organized crime threats.”Monday’s briefing came after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told Parliament there was “credible” evidence linking the government of India to the June killing at a Sikh temple in Surrey, B.C.Eby says Canadians must be safe from foreign government interference, including the threat of violence and murder. He says he needs more information from the federal government so the province can better protect people at risk.Nijjar was shot dead as he sat in his pickup truck in the parking lot of the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdawra on June 18, in what police say was ...Republican gubernatorial candidate in Kentucky appears to soften his hardline opposition to abortion

Andy Beshear’s campaign accused Cameron of trying to hide his well-established “extreme views” on the abortion issue.“Throughout his time in office, even before this campaign began, Daniel Cameron has made it cle...Small plane lands on Interstate 80 in LaSalle County

WASHINGTON (Nexstar) -- The U.S. government will shut down at the end of the month unless Congress can strike a deal in the next 12 days. There's now a group of Republicans proposing a short term funding extension to avoid a shutdown - but the proposal may be dead on arrival. Not just because Democrats will oppose it, but also because Republicans can't agree with each other."What most of America doesn't know, the majority of the government will be operating, will be working," says Congresswoman Nancy Mace (R-South Carolina), who expects a government shutdown.Despite this, Mace played down the consequences of Congress failing to fund the government in time stating, "I've talked to some federal employees that don't really mind it, because they're going to get a vacation."But if funding lapses, critical government services to the public could be impacted. Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-New York), a member of House Republican leadership, says Republicans are working to avoid a shu...Arkansas trooper retires after performing PIT maneuver on wrong car
